Gas station owner/operator
Conrad bought the gas station when he was in his 20s, after serving in the Navy for a tour. He hated the service, and when he mustered out, he was sure to pick a place as far away from the Atlantic as he could manage. He’s getting older now, but he still manages the late shift himself, as he’s a night owl.
Conrad is a fit African-American man in his 60s. His gray hair is cut short and he wears thick eyeglasses. He wears slacks, orthopedic shoes, and a work shirt with the station’s logo on it. He usually has his nose buried in a book from the Leavenworth public library until someone drives up. Right now, he’s reading about Regency England.
